Iran Inteational TV shows a series of documentaries exploring issues surrounding Iranian Cinema. Several related and involved people in cinema industry are interviewed in the documentary. In a part or rather an episode focusing on the Cinema and Censorship, one of the interviewees, Mani Haqiqi, speaks about his own experience on facing censorship. He says that by arguing with Iranian censor officials again and again, he has been able to convince them to reduce 30 minutes cut of his film into 30 seconds! I think most of us Iranian Cinema fans understand by saying this, he does not aim to purify the backwardness of monitoring system on Iranian film makers, instead, he innocently is trying to show off his bargaining ability. However, such an account not only can dramatically mitigate this cultural oppression and humourizes this very serious challenge Iranian Cinema is facing, but also gives a wrong impression of censorship apparatus here in Iran to foreign audience. In fact, this counterexample depicts a rational and negotiable monitoring system, leaving one to wonder, what about talented individuals like Kiarostami, Taqvaee, Panahi, Makhmalbaf and many other Iranian film makers whose films are banned in Iran, is it simply because of their negotiation incapability? سمپاتی بی خطر...
